What is BKFC (Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship) and how does it work?
Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship (BKFC) is a bare knuckle fighting organisation founded in 2018 by former professional boxer David Feldman. The organisation was formed in Philadelphia and became the first of its kind to hold a legal, sanctioned and regulated bare knuckle event in the US since 1889.
BKFC differentiates itself from other combat sports because, as the name suggests, the fighters compete without any padding on their knuckles. While they’re allowed to wrap their wrist, thumb and mid-hand, no gauze or tape can be within 1 inch of the knuckles.
Aside from how they cover the hands, BKFC also stands out from traditional boxing thanks to its format. Fights are held in the patented BKFC squared circle, with four ropes acting as a boundary around the circular ring. At the beginning of each round, fighters begin on the scratch line, face to face and mere inches apart. Rounds last 2 minutes, and fights are normally scheduled for 5 rounds.
The sport of bare knuckle boxing has grown quickly thanks to the success of BKFC. The organisation even saw investment from none other than the UFC’s Conor McGregor in 2024 as a minority owner. McGregor has helped bring the sport to a wider audience and ensure it keeps growing.

Christine “Misfit” Ferea - The current women’s flyweight champion, Ferea has a record of 11-1 in BKFC with wins over Britain Beltran Hart, Bec Rawlings and many more.
Andrei Arlovski - The former UFC heavyweight has a pro MMA record of 34-24 and is now the new men’s heavyweight champion, with a record of 2-0 in BKFC. He won the title by beating another former UFC heavyweight, Ben Rothwell.
